On June 12th Coeur d'Alene Press reporter Jeff Selle wrote that
the Idaho State Republican Party leaders, meeting today in McCall, would discuss
the proposed adoption of new rules that would require candidates to 'qualify'
to be on primary election ballots as 'good' Republicans. Today, the Associated Press reported that in Iran's
presidential election, being held today, that the candidates first needed to be
cleared before they were allowed on the ballot by the "Guardian
Council". 680 applied. 8 were selected. The AP also reported that Iran's
candidate vetting process is the subject of "consistent criticism by the
West." Makes one wonder...will the Republican Party that controls Idaho
declare that it is a part of the 'West' or will it decide that the Iranian
election process is best?
